Lucy Martin the author of “The Lighting Bible” tried to give solution. First suggestion from Martin is, using the available light. “Don’t make the window darker by adding more material in huge amount,” he said.

“If we consider to use artificial light, minimizing light from lamp in the rooftop is the latest trend. You can use it, but you have to save a cost. If you just receive light from above, always close your room,” he added, as quoted by Telegraph.

According to Martin, the key to make a house shine is creating a kind of layer. Light comes from floor, wall, and table create texture effect which is able to make a room brighter.

Lighting pattern should eliminate ‘dead’ corners and make the room more attractive. Basic principles in power allocation for lamp is, more power in room where there’s an activity inside. This power allocation will support lamp type choosing to be placed. Save-energy lamp such as fluorescent or compact fluorescent (CFL) can be an option.

After power management for each room, you should also do lamp grouping. For example, in dining room which become one with kitchen, you can group three lamp groups. Pendant lamp as the main lighting and spot lighting as accent light in niche or wall’s artwork, also lighting for work area which commonly placed under hang cabinet, kitchen set. All lamps group is represented by one stop contact. So, it would be more easier to arrange it.

Ideal thing to arrange lamp is by using five amplifier circuit controlled by main switch near the door. If you feel it’s disturbing, simple way to make it neat is by changing common lamp with LED (light emitting diodes). This lamp type consumes smaller energy, but the light intensity produced is larger. The most important thing, it won’t get heated, so you can put it in any places.

LED consisted of sharp strip which can be attached inside kitchen table or display shelf. Meanwhile, the more flexible LED can be used in bedroom, so your habit, reading in the night can be done.

In arranging light, you must remember not to use a blinding light. If the lamp used has great watt, it can get you dazzled.
